LA native Gracie Abrams is the latest celebrity to share her feelings about the deadly wildfires that have destroyed so much of the area, especially LA’s Pacific Palisades neighborhood, where nearly 24,000 acres have burned.

In a handwritten note she posted on Instagram, Gracie wrote, “What has happened in LA over the past week is unimaginable and heartbreaking beyond measure. It is impossible to wrap our heads around the loss of precious lives and homes in the Palisades and Altadena.”

Gracie went on to say, “I grew up in the Palisades — at the rec center that no longer exists, in the homes of friends who have lost everything, walking the bluffs to the Palisades swing, now surrounded by so much destruction, making best friends and picnicking on the now-unrecognizable fields and trails of Will Rogers park, eating the iced cookies at Gelson’s and burritos at Cafe Vida, both staples of our community that are no longer standing.”

The “That’s So True” singer added that the street where she learned how to ride a bike has been “destroyed,” and reminisced about “being surrounded, always by so many kind and caring people … all of it, all of us, changed forever by this tragedy.”

After thanking firefighters, first responders and volunteers, Gracie ended by writing, “There is a long road ahead for the people who live and work in these communities. If you are able, please consider joining me in supporting the incredible organizations working to provided relief to the families, workers and communities that have been devastated by these fires. Sending my love and gratitude to you all.”

She then listed a number of charities, including World Central Kitchen and Best Friends Animal Society.
